Song for today: The La's - Ride Yer Camel

Today's song is, of course, The La's "Ride Yer Camel".

This was an unreleased B-Side from the original "Timeless Melody" single that came out in 1990. However, this song was not released until 2010, when Universal Music presented "Callin' All: box-set". A 4CD Box-set that gathered together all of the band's remaining unreleased recordings.

The La's formed in 1984 but they only released one album, which the band members have claimed to be unhappy, and some singles that attracted little notice. But in spite of this, this Liverpudlian band is now remembered as one of the greatest bands of the late 80's.

You can hear in this track some some influences as The Who, Bo Didley or Captain Beefhart, which was named by Mike Badger, The La's founder, their main influence. Anyway, they have also mentioned their admiration for Chuck Berry, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, The Kinks, the early Rolling Stones, and of course, The Beatles, who were also from Liverpool.
